Stellenbosch University has confirmed that Maties head coach Kabamba Floors has been given a formal a final written warning — after a little “off-field fixture” at a local pub last month.
According to Netwerk24, things got heated at the Brauhaus in Stellenbosch on 2 August, just after Maties and Hamiltons had gone head-to-head in a Western Province Super League A clash. Apparently, some Hamiltons players and Floors decided the post-match analysis would be better conducted over beer… and flying glasses.
The former Springbok flank allegedly tried to chuck a glass at one of the Hamiltons lads a couple of brannas. Not exactly textbook sportsmanship — unless the sport is pub darts.
SU said they’d taken action, though they kept the punishment details under wraps. Netwerk24 how reports he got a final warning.
Floors himself wasn’t in the mood for a press conference, telling them via WhatsApp he had nothing to say and doesn’t want to be contacted again. Translation: move along, nothing to see here.
On the field, Maties didn’t exactly set the league alight this season — finishing 11th with just five wins from 14 matches.
