Le Roux Joins the Boks — Just in Time to Miss the Match.

Le Roux Joins the Boks — Just in Time to Miss the Match.

Willie le Roux is back in Bok camp — but, let’s be clear: he’s here to sharpen the squad, not to suit up.

The Springbok centurion touched down in Durban on Sunday to join the national team for a short, high‑impact training stint until Wednesday. As it stands, he’s not in the 33‑man squad for the Rugby Championship clash against Argentina at Kings Park on Saturday 27 September, nor for the Twickenham fixture on 4 October. So he’s purely there to share his expertise during training.

Rassie, explained that: “Willie’s part of our wider squad, and having him in camp boosts the quality of our training.” Translation: if you want your backline humming, you bring in the assist king.

“We train the way we play,” Rassie added, “and every point counts in these next two games.” So why not bring in a guy who’s seen it all and done it all, even if it’s just in practice?

Big thanks to Ackers and the Bulls for loaning out their playmaker for a few days. Willie will head back to Pretoria after Wednesday, just in time to be available for the Bulls’ URC opener against the Ospreys at Loftus.

So while we won’t see Willie lighting up Kings Park this Saturday, rest assured — his fingerprints will be all over the prep work.
