Springbok fullback Aphelele Fassi is going to be out of action for a bit after picking up an ankle injury in that massive 43-10 win over the All Blacks in Wellington.
It happened when Scott Barrett brought him down near the touchline — one of those awkward tackles that just twists you the wrong way. Fassi tried to keep going, but you could see he wasn’t moving right, and Andre Esterhuizen came on to take his place.
When the Boks got back home, it was confirmed he wouldn’t be in Rassie’s squad for the Argentina games — along with Jean-Luc du Preez and Lood de Jager, who are also nursing knocks.
Fassi jumped on Instagram to let everyone know he’s had surgery and that it all went smoothly. His message was short and sweet:
“Surgery went well, R&R now. BRB. Thank you for the wishes and kind messages. Much appreciated.”
So for now, it’s all about rest, recovery, and getting back to doing what he does best — slicing through defences in green and gold.
